Marketing your business on a budget

Marketing is a costly and time-consuming measure that all business must strive to do if they are to gain more exposure in the business world. Here are some tips on how to maximise your business'exposure with these simple marketing strategies.

Firstly, assuming you have already established your niche or market, the next thing to do is to promote your business in as many ways as possible. The internet is an excellent gateway for business to gain exposure. Use search engine optimisation to make your website more accessible to users and make sure that it is engaging, exciting and is constantly updated. This is not expensive to achieve. Also, become an expert at html, as this will save you from having to pay to hire a professional website designer. You could also hire a financial adviser to help you manage your budget.

Make your business user-friendly. If you are a catering business, give out free samples to people on the high street or at a shopping centre. Send out leaflets or business cards so that other business can contact you if they are interested in your services or products. It may be expensive at first, but if people like your products then they may well decide to purchase them. However, by not giving free samples, people do not know what it is you have to offer. Represent your business like you are representing yourself - after all, it is your product and your own creation. Always answer questions thoroughly and handle criticism. This is especially important, as you will have to ensure that you can promote your business while at the same time defending it against other worthy competitors.

Do your own copywriting - this will also save you copywriter fees, which can be particularly expensive. Try to avoid criticising other similar business in an effort to boost customer interest - the public usually sees this as a cheap method for gaining profit. Instead, highlight all of the positives - state that you offer the best rates, the best quality service or products in your area, that your business is the best deal available anywhere.
